Marc and Shawn cop to their role in various capers, while ML takes the Fifth. But first, he makes a major announcement!

STRAIGHT DOPE: Hey, you – yeah, you! We start off this week with an appeal to our listeners to “tell a friend” about the show. Partly because we’re trying to grow our audience, but partly because we’re stealing Dan Wetzel’s great idea. More listeners also helps our bottom line, which could use a little boost after a couple summer sponsors dropped off with the change in seasons. Or don’t tell anyone and just join our Patreon Posse the “Soul Patrol” for as little as $5 a month.

We also make BIG NEWS off the top of the show: Erika Erickson will be joining the team as a co-host and occasional guest host. She will bring her energy, insights and talents to the Red Shovel Network a couple times a month, as well as the bonus episodes available to Patreon subscribers for just $5 a month.

After Marc does his best Kim Darby imitation, he discloses that he has NEVER seen a John Wayne movie. Never, ever! ML tries to school him – in between interruptions from Shawn – while Marc suggests that The Duke would be a prime cancel candidate if he were alive today.

Marc defends McDonald’s, which ML disparaged last week. The crew starts debating the merits of various fast food franchises, when Shawn discloses his role in a criminal caper while working the drive thru at the BK Lounge.

Shawn and Marc admit to their role in illegal schemes, but ML is curiously quiet.

Lots of criminals go by nicknames. Marc’s felonious friend became known as “Sweet Tooth.” Listen and learn how he got that moniker.

ML deserves an award for restraint based on the amount of time he waits before crowing about MSU being the only undefeated major college football team in Michigan – and tied for 1st place in the Big Ten. The Spartans’ win in Maryland has him once again looking forward to seeing the Green Men play Boston College at Chestnut Hill. And he doesn’t mention Connor Stalions once. Not even one mention of Connor Stalions!!!

Shawn reveals how reruns of “Reba” helped put a Detroit Lion at ease after Sunday night’s overtime victory against the Los Angeles Rams. Read all about it here.

Marc and ML give a brief “state of the team” for their Michigan Wolverines and Michigan State Spartan football teams.

ML makes some pre-debate predictions for the Donald Trump and Kamala Harris showdown on ABC. He also recalls some memorable moments from previous presidential debates.

GEEK OF THE WEEK: RFK Jr.’s on-again, off-again presidential campaign won’t win him four years in the White House, but it does take our prize.
